BCHS Mission Statement

Our mission at Buckingham County High School is to create an atmosphere conducive to lifelong learning and high expectations for academic excellence.

Buckingham County High School strives to prepare individuals to function to their greatest potential as citizens, students, consumers, employees and family members. Because learning is a continuing process, the students of BCHS are encouraged to create within themselves a desire to learn. The school provides students the opportunity to develop character and personality, to acquire knowledge, to master skills, to form desirable habits, to maintain good health and to foster appropriate attitudes and appreciation.

Every administrator, teacher and student is expected to demonstrate ethical standards of conduct on all occasions. It is the responsbility of the staff to provide an environment conducive to learning by teaching effectively, maintaining a comfortable environment, planning lessons carefully and maintaining discipline.

The school strives to use all available resources to enhance the instructional program and co-curricular activities. Further, the school attempts to provide activities that will enable the students to realize their responsibility to themselves and to others, especially those experiences that would aid them in our changing democratic society.
